My Life, Loneliness,

If Only

Your life and mine
perpetuated with ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’

If we could
write invisible lines from Shakespeare’s sonnets
or glide on the sun rays
or drum away on the Tibetan plateau
or swim among the stars.

If only,
but the sonnets are written,
sun rays are fickle,
the plateau is no Tibet
and the stars are dead

2015 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2015 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 1,200 times in 2015. If it were a cable car, it would take about 20 trips to carry that many people.

Li’l dewdrop covets the sun
on the wings of the li’l bird
for, vapour, the sun turns it into
life, like that blink of an eye
Who cares but itself
life, in that blink of an eye
thousand rainbows, it explodes into
on the wings of the li’l bird
Li’l dewdrop covets the sun no more

The Coal Miner

He emerges from a hole in the ground
and yes he is all black
no no no
he isn’t a rabbit or a mouse
don’t mistake his blackness
as ugliness of his soul
even if his lungs are smeared black
he helps the world stay warm
he drills the ground like his life
he fills his lungs with dirt
to fed his wife and son
whom he returns to at night
with pride and love
without washing or dining
he blows his dirt filled lungs
at the fire place
so his family stays warm
so the world keeps moving and
you feel his presence
in your life
if you ponder enough
for without the coal miner
and his soothing face black
his family would be wasted
the world would be cold

Life is fair

You stand in a moment
you are frozen
the gentle breeze of life
flutters the edges of your memories
you unfreeze
your roots grow deeper
into the ground of your past
your wings grow further
into the sky of the future
to see the silver linings
of clouds on a gloomy day
to realize every cloud has a silver lining
even during the darkest hour
then life stretches out
to take you in its warm embrace
for you are one of its child
it will teach you what you need to learn
but it will never put your way
what your heart cannot handle
life is fair

That Life, That World

An unlit traditional Bhutanese Hearth, abandoned in an old house

Come and sit by me
I will tell you a story or two
of the days when world was different
when birds flew freely
when rivers flowed clear
when the clouds moved to grace the blue sky
when the moon shone the brightest in the night sky
when little boys and little girls played into dark
safely
of the times when strangers smiled at each other
when a young person stopped to help an old lady
of the times when mothers suckled her child at her breast
when fathers took his children to play a game or two in the fields
of times when grandfathers and grandchildren sat by the hearth
while grandmothers cooked, and shared centuries-old stories of values and love
when man loved his woman the way she should be
when woman warmed her bed only with her man
when children held their old parents in their arms
when students bowed to their teachers in reverence
of the times when happiness wasn’t paid for
when wars were avoided
of times when human were humane
when animals were treated as a member of the family
life was different
I lived that life, in that world

Walking into a Sunset

Taking a walk into the sunset
I looked back
saw my life like a movie
I have lived in the dark
in the bright
I have loved women
men
children
I have cried and laughed –
I saw the tears dry
and the laughter continued
to quiver more in my ears
I felt light
I looked in front
I wasn’t walking anymore
I was flying with the cloud
flying away to a new world
to a new beginning

Inspiration

It was a year
of pain
tears
betrayal
confusion
crying herself to sleep
wetting the pillow
every night
during the day
curling up on the bed
crying silently
‘I messed up’
she was giving up on herself
somehow she knew
there were good reasons
to start over
inspiration
was what she needed
to find herself
again
one bright morning
as the sun rose over the horizon
she found
an inspiration
which helped her
find at least a part of her
and made her ponder
there were more important things in life
she created a whole new world
to live in

2007/8??

Starting over

Life takes its course
no matter how we try
to keep it our way
with time
things and people change
everyone
seems to be empty
of trust
love
loses its meaning
becomes painful
life looks difficult
at times even impossible
we hate the very life
we wanted
and fell In love with
those moments
don’t turn to the west
but to the east
as the sun rises
and we feel it on our skin
we realize it’s not too
late to start over again
